Trailerized Desert AC Rig

LS30-AC

LS30-AC is a free standing trailer mounted AC rig, specially designed for highly mobile desert operations. An optional skidding system is available for multi-well drilling. The rig is also available in a helicopter transportable version for remote locations with limited access. The rig arrangement allows fast, efficient, and safe rig-up without crane.

During operation, the mast is raised with a pair of 3-stage hydraulic cylinders. Two mast legs will stay on the mast trailer, while the other two legs will sit on the substructure. A hydraulic side-shift mechanism is mounted in the substructure for easy alignment with mast trailer.

This versatile AC electric rig is well suited for intermediate depth vertical, horizontal and directional wells. The mast with top drive is transported with drawworks on a special designed mast trailer and optional load divider jeep. The substructure with driller’s cabin, BOP, and catwalk are transported as one load through a special designed pin-on substructure dolly. Mud pumps, engine generator sets, VFD house, mud tanks, water tank, fuel tank, trip tank with choke & kill manifold, BOP closing unit are all packaged on “Rock-Over” trailer frames with dual or single axles. No crane is needed for a rig move. No particular moving sequence is required during the rig move so that mud tanks and other equipment can be moved and set up in the new location before mast and substructure.

The rig is fully AC controlled. The drawworks, mud pumps, and top drive are AC driven (VFD). All the charging pumps, transfer pumps, and agitators are driven with AC motors. The rig is equipped with advanced rig communication system (Gaitronics), CCTV, and fire & gas detection system.

Safeguards and failsafe features, such as programmable crown and floor savers, were incorporated into the drilling program to not only make its operation seamless, but to also enhance the safety of the crew.

The PLC touch screen interface is customizable, easy to operate and offers far greater control over operations than a conventional rig. The Auto Driller utilizes ROP, WOB, and Delta P for precise control in all drilling situations. The joystick offers precision control and the powerful, state-of-the-art, regenerative, electric braking system provides confidence when handling heavy loads.
